The Question Worth Asking
It's a fair question. The world doesn't need another show, another program, or another religious institution. But we believe it desperately needs more communities that take Scripture seriously — where discipleship is the goal, not attendance.
Refuge Bible Church was planted out of a burden for grounded Christianity — the kind that forms people, not just fills seats. We believe the local church is God's plan A for the world, and we want to do it faithfully.
In a cultural moment of confusion and noise, we want to be a place where people find clarity in Christ — doctrinal depth, genuine community, and a refuge in the truth of the gospel.
Discipleship First
We measure success not by attendance, but by whether people are growing in Christ-likeness.
Truth Without Apology
We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God and preach it as such — without compromise.
Refuge in Christ
The name says it all. We want every person who walks through our doors to encounter the peace and safety found only in Jesus.

Zak Tindal is the lead pastor of Refuge Bible Church, a new church launching in Cypress, Texas in March 2027. His main mission is to provide a welcoming, encouraging home for everyday believers and anyone searching for a fresh start in their faith. Zak’s Sunday services focus on Bible-based passionate worship, deep verse-by-verse Bible teaching, and reverent weekly communion. He believes that teaching the Bible should never feel boring, cold, or hard to understand. Instead of giving short motivational speeches, he focuses on teaching the Bible simply, honestly, and exactly as it is written so that deep biblical truths stay highly practical for your everyday life. Zak has been happily married to his wife, Kattie, since 2012. Together, they are raising two energetic toddlers, Luke (2.5) and Millie (1.5). As a family, they cannot wait to plant deep roots in the Houston area and build a real, loving community. Above all, Zak is passionate about sharing the gospel with everyone. Just like the apostles did, he loves using the undeniable evidence of fulfilled prophecy to show that Christianity is objectively true.

When You Arrive
We want you to understand the Bible deeply. So we don't skim or hop around — we walk through God's word carefully, verse by verse, letting Scripture speak for itself. Because Jesus promised that the truth will set you free.
We sing modern music that is doctrinally grounded, with conviction — because what we sing, we believe. Our aim is to sing to and about God in spirit and in truth: to mean what we say, to draw near to Him in truth and boldness knowing He has made us clean, and to praise Him joyfully for who He is and what He has done. It is our deep conviction that worship is not a concert; it is a communal drawing near to God.
Communion is central to our worship, so we take time for the Lord's supper every Sunday — a reverent time of self-examination, repentance, and joyful thankfulness for the free grace of God.
We're not a program factory. We're a family. Expect real conversations, genuine care, and a community that actually does life together.
